Nellie taking over Construction Print E-mail
Recently appointed as General manager (GM) of one of Swaziland largest Construction companies, Inyatsi Construction Ltd, Nelisiwe Bulunga is the First woman in the country to run a construction company in Swaziland of this immense capacity.

Born Nelisiwe Mathabela on the 17th September 1978,at Manzini RFM Hospital, she did her primary at St. Marks and her secondary schooling at M.D.S moving on to do her matric in South Africa.

She holds an Bsc Degree in Quantity Surveying and an Msc Degree in Property Studies both obtained from the University of Cape Town. She has worked on some of the greatest constrution projects in and outside of the country to date, and has worked for only the best construction companies in the country.

How do you feel being appointed GM of a Company as large as Inyatsi Construction? -“It is very Empowering, very Challenging and humbling to be put in such a position” and the question I’m dying to ask is how does it feel being in a woman in-charge in a male dominated industry? -  “HAHAHA Gorgeous… it is nice to maintain a feminine outlook in every true aspect of being a woman and still excel at what is considered by society to be a “men’s job” ”

But why construction? – “ It is a totally fascinating industry and honestly speaking that is where the money is”

Asked why she decided to come home and stay here when she could have gone anywhere in the world her response was – “ I LOVE MY HUSBAND. He was in Swaziland so I came back home and that’s the truth”

How long have you been married for and do you have any children? – “ I’ll have been married for 5 years in December and have a daughter and a step-daughter”

What is the one thing Nelisiwe Bulunga cannot live with out? – “The values that were instilled by my family and Church, Assemblies of God, and that is to respect regardless of age and race.

Her favourite quotations are;

“All the breaks you need in life wait within your imagination, Imagination is the workshop of your mind, capable of turning mind energy into accomplishment and wealth.” Napoleon Hill

“Before success comes in any man's life, he's sure to meet with much temporary defeat and, perhaps some failures. When defeat overtakes a man, the easiest and the most logical thing to do is to quit. That's exactly what the majority of men do.” Napoleon Hill

“Ignorance should never be an excuse” - Unknown

“Always let the awakening begin within you” - Unknown

Five totally random facts about Nelisiwe:

  1. Loves to read
  2. Enjoys a good laugh,
  3. Loves shoes,
  4. Loves the National Geographic channel but not a big fan of television,
  5. Has a huge phobia of snakes, cannot even watch them on T.V.

So who is you favourite author and what is your favourite book? – “How dare you…. Ok I would say J. R. R. Tolkein, “The Hobbit”,  “The Lord of The Rings”, and “The Return of The King”. I love them because they engaged my imagination, something the youth never gets to do these days because they watch so much Television”

“My Motto in life cannot be summed up into just one line. If you are able to dream it, you are able to live it. Its up to you to set that dream in motion and make it a reality”

Given the opportunity to address the Youth of Swaziland, what would you say? – “ABOUT LIFE- Respect will get you a long way and will open a lot of doors. Respect comes with Humbleness and consideration for the next person. ABOUT DREAMS- you are the only one that can make your dreams a reality and nobody else. You have to keep your fighting spirit and never lose your focus and remember for every single problem there are countless solutions”.

Your last words – “DREAM BIG!! Make your big dreams an even better reality”
