House on Fire is back! It opens the 2009 season with a brand new event "Friday night live" on Saturday the 6th of Feb.
Friday night live will be a classy night out showcasing predominately local performance, a sprinkling of international acts and of course all happening in the unparalleled atmosphere of House on Fire.
Opening the series will be none other than Bholoja with his full backing band. Bholoja has been a regular at House on Fire and what better way to kick of the new year with a top local performer. House on Fire's emphasis with these evenings is to provide a platform for live Swazi performance in all it's forms; music, poetry and dance. According to Jiggs Thorne, the criteria for selected performance will be that the work engages with who we are and where we are, that it has it's roots here.
Also involved on the night will be Members of Lilanga.The DJ for the event will be confirmed in due course. House on fire will be working with with local outfit Swazis Rock to identify performers and market the event. "It's an exciting initiative which sees locals coming together to further the growth of local performance, we hope it gets the support it deserves," said Jiggs.
