Poetic Seed was started by poet Afua Wilcox a.k.a. Afia / Fertility. It was started in conjunction with her ‘partnership’ (a company called vinyl 1980), which has become a forum for the growth of Hip Hop in South Africa. Poetic Seed was inspired by a movement called Poetry Delight (founded by Ian P), which became a part of the manifestation and the programming, and the ideologies of Poetic Seed.

The name Poetic Seed refers to the ‘The Growth of the Spoken Word’ in that the intention to start a new movement - to jumpstart the Art of Poetry, and more specifically the performance aspect of the Spoken Word in Swaziland.

Poetic Seed has had access to many of Swaziland’s finest talent, these being DJ’s, poets, vocalists, and instrumentalists, including the likes of DJ B52, Poets from Vessels of Glory, Poets from Poetry Delight, Spitmatic and other local artists which are basically working as a unit to create something Fresh, Soulful, an Atmosphere of Creative Expression.

The Theatre club was an ideal venue, as it had the ‘connotations of the arts’, yet due to the ‘fresh nature of the event’ the venue has been given a twist to it.

The date was basically inspired by the coming together of people, all Swazis, from all over the world, using the ‘festive season’ to bring people together.

The Basic itinerary of this event will compose of the amalgamation of Poetry, Song and instrumentalism that will form a showcase of arts, and will be followed by an open mike session of poetry.
